Being There
Do you remember when all fashion books were absolutely gorgeous, classically composed and exquisite objects? Well, the new IDEA book is one of those. The photographs, the models, the designers, the clothes, everything is magnificently contained in this book. It looks completely classic but the images have never been published. The book is an unseen visual history of 1990s fashion.
Gavin Bond is now one of the world's leading commercial photographers. However, in the early 1990s, young Gavin was studying fashion at Saint Martins. Following an invitation from Vivienne Westwood, he picked up a camera and started shooting. For most of the 1990s, Gavin photographed backstage at London and Paris shows: Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa, Karl Lagerfelds Chanel...
Cover star Christy Turlington writes the introduction.
"Gavin Bond came on the scene one day, as if, for everyone else, he had always been there. We thought that if he was right with Vivienne Westwood, he would be right with the rest of us." Cristina Turlington
The foreword is written by the esteemed Philippe Garner.
